Aluminum Floor Jack - 1.5 Ton OK?

FWIW, I too have a $40 craftsmen jack. It takes a bit of extra work to get it under the car and doesn't lift the car as high as I wish it did, but it's still working well after much use. It would be totally fine for just swaping out the wheels on occasion, and is adequate for the work that I do. Getting the car 3 inches higher off the ground would be really nice, though. As it is, I can't comfortably fit underneath the car on a creeper when I set it on jackstands after raising it to the max height on the sears jack. The lifetime warranty only applies to hand tools.

I bought the $179 all-aluminum Sears jack. I was going to buy the cheaper steel 3-ton jack, but I was too tired and hot to move the 99 pounder to my hatch! So I got the lighter jack, and 4
3.5 ton jack stands. Problem is, the jack plate I ordered from Vertex didn't make it here today.
Guess I gotta wait to swap the wheels. Unless I use the jack without the jack plate? Or, what about the factory jack??
