Default How much does 944 engine weigh?

Wondering how heavy engine stand has to be capable. Would a 750 pound stand be enough to hold the engine and power steering rack? thanks.

Of course. I believe the engine weight is like 300-350 lbs. Factor in some more due to the accessories.

750 will do just fine, but you want to try and find one that has 4 legs/wheels. The three-legged type are a bit scary when trying to remove/torque bolts, etc. Entire engine with all accessories is less than 500lbs.

Also, grease the pivot area when assembling it - you'll thank me later.

Anyone have experience with this? http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...rtnumber=T1085

There is no pictures unfortunately and I can't seem to find any online. I imagine this probably is not 4 legged, etc, due to the price? I don't really have a lot in budget for a stand, and I have alternator, ac, intake, etc, off and will be taking the head and power steering and such off, so I'm not sure what I really need for a stand.

Anyone else know anywhere else to look for a stand then typical autozone etc? What about sears or walmart or something? I just need something cheap and effective if thats possible.

It's a four wheel - http://www.shinnfuamerica.com/produc...tegories_FK=29

PartsAmerica is Advance where you are - they should have them in store for you to look at.

Sweet thanks skip. Yeah advance's website is partsamerica.com or whatever. Anyway, I'll go there , the site doesn't say its in stock, but they can get it in a day or two, I'm not going to have it shipped if i have to pay shipping obviously.

Thanks a bunch.

Didn't you just do head gasket? Kinda hard to get to the rod bearings isnt it? do you put your head and arms inside the tire?
