Freaking seats!
Ok,
So I think I finally have everything I need to install that recaro sport seat into my '88 951S. It's only been sitting on my garage floor for weeks now.
Got my brey-krause inboard lap belt mount and all. I roll the seat over onto its back so I can attach the recaro rails, only to find that there are no drilled and tapped holes for the forward mounting points of the rails!
Ok, whatever, lets just get it in the car and see if everything lines up and the brey-krause bracket will work...
Well, the rails don't really line up with the 6 holes on the floor. Only one of the rear bolts on either side will work, so only 4 bolts will work.
Then for whatever reason the sliders don't want to slide fore and aft. ARGH!!
The only highlights of this entire process are it looks like the Brey-Krause brackets will work, so I don't need to have a bracket custom fabbed and it also looks like the recaros will sit lower in the car thus giving me more head room which I desperately need when I have my helmet on.
The downpoints are the rails don't seem to fit the seat without drilling and tapping a hole in the seat(they're both made by recaro, what's up with that?!), and they also don't hard mount to all 6 points in the car, which makes me a little nervous. The seat bottom also sits very flat to the floor, and I like the front part of the seat bottom to be raked up to give me more thigh support...
Anyone who's installed a recaro SRD/Speed/Sport wanna give me some install direction here?

Don't know about the problem with your seats, but with my Corbeau Forza's you needed a special bracket/slider depending on your car. They work fine and only pick up on four holes in the floor, on my seats that is normal - hope this helps!

doc,
Unfortunately, the sliders will only mount to the floor in the rear using one bolt each. The two bolt pattern back there is not supported by Recaro nor Sparco sliders.
History; the two bolts in the rear are to reinforce late models whose seats themselves are the inside seatbelt anchor point. In earlier models (83-85.1), the inside seatbelt mount is attached to the tunnel. It is my personal recommendation to repeat this when adding harnesses to a car not using the factory seat. Be sure to reinforce the back side by using a medium sized steel backing plate. Or, as you have chosen, you can use the BK unit.
There is no seat base adaptor needed for the Recaro Speed/Sport. Instead, the sliders mount direct to the seat, and then to the floor. You will likely want to use some spacers on the front of the Sport seat because the bottom of it is not flat like in other models (Speed, etc). These spacers need only be enough to clear the seat bottom so that the sliders will function properly. It's not an particulary easy situation, trying to get everything to line up, but it should work just fine.
On the issue of no threaded holes in the front of the Recaro Sport, that should not be possible. The bottom of the Sport seat should have 4 pre-tapped holes for use specifically with a Recaro slider. FWIW, they will not work with a Sparco-type slider.
Good Luck!

FWIW, im not too sure about recaro seats but with my sparco torino II's that i put in my 86 n/a i had a similar problem. if you look on the right rear on the dirver side, and left rear on the passenger side you will see a bracket with three holes in it but only 2 are drilled through the floorboard to the threads, you must drill in the center of the middle hole in the bracket through the floor to get to the threads. be careful not to go to far tho and drill on the threads. just thought id add my 2 cents

I bought the BK inner seat belt anchor point thingy, and promptly returned them. They just aren't up to the task, IMHO. Why? Simple: if you install the slider to the seat and then directly to the floor, you will notice that the inner seat belt rake adjustment will most likely interfere with the BK inner seat belt anchor point, rendering it impossible to use.
So, the solution I went was is this: Stable Energies (www.stable-energies.com) sells an excellent combination seat rail frame and slider setup. The square frame attaches to the floor of the car. This frame has the inner seat belt mounting point welded to it. Another benefit of this frame is that there since it is a square frame, you can attach your sub-belt to the bar connecting the two sides of the frame. Yet another benefit -- this frame attaches to the floor using hex-head bolts -- no need to worry about the stripping the allen head bolts that hold the stock seats to the floor anymore!! (Don't ask me about that, please!!) Once it is attached to the floor, attach your inner seat belt and the inner lap harness to the anchor point. Note: you may need to cut a 2 inch by 2 inch hole in the fabric on the tranny tunnel where the mounting point is to have a bit more clearance for all the seat belt hardware. This will be covered by the seat when the install is complete.
You need to buy sliders that will attach to this frame as well. (Stable energies has both, of course) These have three height holes. If you are tall like me, you will need to hack-saw off the two holes for the highest seat postition.
Attach these sliders to your seat (For the Recaro seats, you need to drill a hole into the sliders to make it work), and then attach the slider/seat combo to your frame.
This setup is simple, sturdy, and slick. Trust me -- it is a terrific solution.
If you go this route, be sure to tell Bob and Laurette that you want the same setup Zoltan has.
Good luck!

Interesting... Might be able to line it up with that.
I'm most likely going to be removing the inner rake adjustment wheel and stud from the seat to gain the clearance I need for the BK bracket. If Porsche had left a threaded body hole in the center tunnel for the lap belt mount, I'd be all over that! Did they? I'm not keen on punching holes in the car.
Looked at the recaro sport seat again, definately no threaded holes for the forward rail mount. Don't know what's up with that. Probably going to just return the seat, I want the speeds anyways so I can have the sub strap hole.

Welcome to my world, Doc;
Seating is critical. All I am going to say is that there is a LOT of CRAP out there in terms of product. Try not to step in any. If you don't know where to walk, consult a professional.
The only thing at stake is your life. As the Duke said, "This ain't no job for amateurs!"
EDIT - By the way; harnesses without a sub are not really very smart anyway.
