I received my new leather AGLA shift boot from Paragon and noticed that I have 2 small holes torn in the rubber shift boot underneath.
The tear lines up pretty well and I was wondering if there is a product out there that could patch it up?

I tried quite a few things, the only thing that worked for any period of time was duct tape on the backside, then some sealant smeared over the outside, it held for quite a while actually
, but eventually it will just let go again. There isnt much you can do as the boot moves, if they are small i wouldnt worry about it, if big, just replace the boot, i dont think it is very much. I installed a 993 shifter and boot, and so now it's one of those out of sight out of mind things.

Try that peel and stick roofing tape made with 30 mil butyl rubber with release liner and aluminum facing, that stuff will stick to anything that's clean. Be warned though it is permanent. Polyken is the best by far. I use it in place of DynaMat for sound deadening and radiant heat reflection. Works great on the tunnel and in the rear areas.

I suppose I can try the duct tape/sealant option and if that fails then move upto the roofing tape. I just don't think that the roofing tape would be flexible enough with the aluminum facing. I do like the idea of using it for sound deadening in the tunnel. Most of the insulation in that area has degenerated.

Actually it's very flexible being butyl rubber, that's why it great to sound proof with it forms around anything and is good to 240 deg. before the adhesive gives up. Even if the foil cracks the rubber will stay intact. Even makes a good quick emergency water hose repair. Duct tape won't last very long in heat and that tunnel is Africa hot.
