If you wouldn't mind going the double-din setup I would probably go for the Eclipse AVN5435 CD/DVD/GPS $1699 and cheaper if you search around for it...

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-oSVSFLF...0&I=099AVN5435

I think the double din setup looks a bit nicer than the flip up single din. In the Si I have a Alpine CDA-7998 and the EQ Controller RUX-C701 and it looks alot better than having the pocket or the factory EQ piece...

But that's just my penny and a half on that...

Not exactly the same having an actual computer and a head unit. I could run my tuning software on it for example... have the internet also... the list goes on.

I'm slowly saving up supplies for a carputer, but I need to get all my mechanicals in order first.

Here's mine

I currently have it as a removable screen untill I CAD a complete new dash for production.. It's not a ghetto screen either, it's a proper VGA not composite.
I plan on molding / fabing dashes for ALL the Porsche models
1st one will be for the early 944
Brushed aluminum mixed with leather and maintaining the original styling that many of us early 944 drivers love.

It's dark outside

basically it has a quick disconnect where the clock would be on an early 944.
I can still work the AC controls and see the Oil Press perfectly.
Within 1 minute, it's disconnected for security.

soon to come .... no more DME

Im expecting to fit in a 7" monitor quite nicely.

I have attached a photo of a photoshop i did. (Note: the red neon look was under influence from my brother :P)

Anyways i have 3 days to go until my unnivesity exams are finished and it'll be into the car for the following 6 weeks. Cam/balance shaft seals, etc are to fixed before any ICE install first though. Il try keep ppl posted on my progress.

you won't be able to see that screen at all ... except at night
