Default Best place to tap switched 12v

Well, after my headlights tore the power supply wire for my MAF out, the power feed at the diagnostic port stopped working. I am guessing that when the headlight bar pulled the wire, it grounded out somewhere. I checked all 40 fuses, yes, each and every one, and they were all good. I am not very worried about the fact that the diag port has no power. I want to find another spot to tap for switched power, but want to make sure it is a good feed. I am counting the radio feed out because I am already running the lights for my boost/afr/oil temp gauges from that. Something under the hood would be nice.

If anyone has any ideas on what the problem with the diagnostic port not having power could be, that would help too. I am guessing I fried a relay or wire somewhere, unless there is another fuse. I have no idea without looking at the schematic, which I probably wouldn't be able to read anyways.

Thanks

ttt

Is there anywhere in the fuse box that I can tap easily? I'm sure there is, I just don't feel like going out with a multi meter and testing myself. Anyone? Anyone?

Does your cig lighter work with the key off? I've never really checked mine, at least it's a good sized feed if it is switched.

I am *pretty* sure it is on all the time. The only time I use it is to scare people. When it pops, it actually pops out about 2 feet, usually right into the passenger's lap!

Yeah, nothing like a glowing cigarette lighter in your lap to make friends, better yet is when it rolls under the seat.

Thanks

There is a 12v supply in the diagnostic test port under the hood, drivers side. My APE MAF uses it. I'm not exactly sure of which receptacle to use but I think it's the inboard most.

I replaced my cigarette lighter with a 12v power recepticle. The connection was weak and didn't want to charge my cell phone nor work well with other items. The recepticle works gret and looks stock.

Yah, that was somehow fried when my headlight bar tore the wire. I tapped the fuel pump fuse, and that seems to be working just fine.

As for the power recepticle, that's a great idea. The cig lighter will not hold my cell phone charger.
