Default Where does DME get power from?

On late model 944s, 968s...where does the DME power come from? Directly from the battery? Ignition Switch? Or?

Then I need to unplug the DME controller and turn on the switch to see if the dash lights are powered through the DME. My Check Engine Light doesn't work, making it impossible (so far) for me to read the fault codes.

Thanks,

Harvey

Also if you have an alarm, the DME relay gets its power from the alarm.
