Hey Guys,
I may be all wet here. I think the orig. plastic clips work because they are made out of flexible material (plastic). Will these replacement clips be the same design as the orig.?

I think the plastic clips are just fine. I mean, they break every 20 years or so, you buy more (they are cheap), they last another 20 years.
I'm not certain that alu is the best material for this application, due to the fact that the plastic clip does expand a little to grab the tube/rail.

I don't know if you guys saw that thread but I have a post with a drawing of how I made mine. They work extreamly well and in a production setting they would look nice and be easy to make.
Just incase the CNC doesn't prove to be cost effective.

Aren't you a bit concerned that the aluminum will fatigue in no time? It has to have a snap fit and aluminum just doesn't have the give for repeated use. Geez, the plastic ones are cheap enough ($4.95 @ Paragon), even if they only last 5 years just buy a spare set now. Billet Smillet-Keep it simple

Provided the correct material was used, you could heat treat the retainers so they would always retain their original shape.
Also I have heard that anodized items do not stand up to UV rays all that well. You may want to consider a PC that is semi-durable and emulates the look of the plastic.
Oh and btw, these are definetly a more useful item than the cupholders that appear on egay all the time for these cars!

As long as the sunvisors are just as easy to snap in and out of, without much more resistance, im in for a set. I hate the plastic ones melting on me. Black would be the best, as i really dont want shiny clips in an all black interior!
