Scott:

I've got the glass from an early mirror - yours for the asking. Just pay shipping.

I had it happen in a 928S I once had. I stopped looked over to check the mirror to make sure I was clear to go, and like slow motion....watched it drop out and to the ground. Black on Black and Texas heat....no good

Easy fix- The P.O. had a piece of plastic mirror material, it looked like being in a funhouse on mind expanding substance. Pried it loose , got a piece of heavy stock (but thin) paperboard-In this case, a golf ball box -not the sleeve, the ones that come by the dozen, the proceeded to trace a rough outline. After that, it was just a matter of fine tuning it with scissors to get the correct shape. Took it to my friendly neighborhood glass shop where he traced the shape on an ordinary 1/8" mirror, cut and ground the edges smooth- put three strips of 3M double sided adhesive tape on for me. Charged me the princely sum of $5! Took it home- fits like a glove ,and 2 years later, still secure, and if you weren't looking for it- looks stock Good luck

I lost one yesterday, I replaced it last night. missing the driver's mirror will get you killed, lol. Today at lunch the replacement popped off on me, luckily I caught it before it fell. I'm in search of glue. My dad has a glass saw(he's into stained glass) and was planning on making some since mom's 84 popped two mirrors now also, lol. Boy, don't they love the summer heat.

there is a kit you can buy. i reember my passenger side fell of while driving. When i heard the glass break i thought someone through a bottlew at my car. I was about to kill someone when my passenger pointed out that my mirror was gone. It cost 25 bucks. It comes with the adhesive, my car is an 85.5 as well. All you got to do is clean the place where the glass is onna go with a clean towel and rubbing alcohol, slap her on and you're good to go!

Michelle,

Thanks for the offer - count me in. How much for shipping? Will $10 cover it? Look for PM.

Someone sniped the ebay mirrors I bid on. They would have been perfect for my needs.

Go to a glass place, they can cut you a piece that fits the shape from one of their books. I think it cost me about 8 bucks last time I did it but that has been a while.

Scott I have mirrors all over my shop. No shipping needed since I live in Waterford but the shop is in Highland Twp. Let me know if you still need and I can bring it home with me tomorrow and we can hook up somewhere around town.

Mark - Sounds great! I live one mile south of the airport. We can meet anywhere you like. Mexico Lindo is a good place - I'll buy the beer.

Or we could meet at my place or anywhere you prefer. Drop me a note or post here. We can get together.

Oh - any chance you have a convex mirror for the navigator's side? It's on my "wish" list.

Thank you!

Michelle - look for another PM.

Can you flat bed scan those mirrors(glass-mounted doesn't matter), face down for me at 300dpi?
I want to make a template, and I know if I remove mine, those heating elements with vapoorize
Email my profile.
TIA...anyone.
Just make sure when you scan it that you scan it vertically down the length of the scanner. I have seen way too many bad scans done horizontally. Looks fine but when you actually use it..all kinds of minor offs.

I had the same thing happen to me. I got the glass from a junkyard and superglued it in.
