711 is H rated and is not for a Porsche. It is good for tire swings, crumbling for a HS track (provided all races are run in the dry) and they may be suitable for a sport court.

Don't run in the rain. Or with scissors for that matter.

Haven't tried them on the Porsche yet, but I have the Avon Tech M500s on the Civic right now and they are really pretty bitchin'. Great grip, quiet and cheap, err, inexpensive. And they do come in sizes to suite your car Ashton, unless you roll on 15" wheels.

I don't think the Kumhos are that bad, and i had a set of the Ecsta 712s on a previous car. Relatively soft for street tires and I had uneven wear, but then running staggered sizes you do not have the chance to rotate.

When I replaced them, the Fuzions were very new, but looked good. My dealer said they were a good design but the initial quality he had seen was terribly inconsistent , indicating he had had seven returns in a matter of weeks. I don't think that he had a financial motive, as he seemed equally happy to sell cheaper or more expensive tires.

I looked at the Yokohama ES100 and then the Toyo T1-S, and decided that I liked the Toyos. They are good tires and I am happy. If the Fuzions are reliable then I think they are a bargoon, and would probably be my choice as a cheap alternative. Anyone know anything about early (eg first 6 months or so) issues with the Fuzions?

In my area, any of the Bridgestones were consideably more expensive than the Fuzion and Kumho, and the cheaper one was essentially the same cost as the Yokos. FYI the tires I looked at in order of cost from least to most was:
Fuzion
Kumho 712
Bridgestone cheaper thing REsomething....
Yoko ES100
Toyo T1-S
Bridgestone S03

The S03s were a ,lot more money and maybe not much more tire than the Toyo. I would not have bothered with the lesser Bridgestone as a half measure that was not hugely cheaper than the Toyos. If I had gone with less, it would have been the Fuzion.

Yoko ES100's or maybe Ecsta Supra 712's if you're on a budget. Stay away from the 711's.

i have the ecsta supra 712's cause i got em wholesale through tire rack. honestly, they suck. they overheat real easy and wont hold a grip once they get hot. really soft sidewalls too. good for smokeshows, bad for trying to keep the car on the road. they work well for standing water though, dont hydroplane nearly as badly as the dunlop sport 5000s i had on there. basically i think they suck but i got em really cheap and they were the best i could get the day i was trying to get em so.

The 711s are a good tire, but not much of a performance tire. My moms got them on her e320 and they're quiet and seem to have good life. If you want a good rain tire, get the BFG G-Force KDWS. I had a set on my mustang and they gripped almost as good in the rain as they did in the dry.

I have one of the first sets that Tirerack sold, I had to call and ask about sizes since only one size was listed on the website at the time. No problems at all with the quality, I was also the first to post a review on Tirerack and it was almost 100% positive. The only drawback is that they heat up and feel greasy too quickly for autocross use, but I've never had a problem on the street or track (wet or dry).

No experience with the Toyos but choosing the Potenzas over the Yokos is a no brainer, as is forgetting that Kuhmos even exist.

tires are one of the things you don't want to cheap out on if you plan on doing anything "spririted" in your car. no matter what is done to the car, the tires are the only thing in contact with the road.

i had the 712's on my car because they were cheap and "performance". one track event on those tires and i decided to place an order for the yoko es100's. pretty much the same price and night and day difference from the 712's. these kumho's are crap for DE or autoX. someone looking to turbo an NA shouldn't skimp on tires.

It is well worth the little extra money to ignore all Kumhos (except the MX). Add my name to the Fuzion fan club. These perform so extremely well on the street that I couldn't justify spending a bunch more money for only a little more grip that I probably won't use.

Fuzions / ES100s are definately the way to go. I have a year of driving on my ES100's and they're awsome (of course, they only have 5000 miles on them)
