Default Alternator out......i think i found the problem (pics)

Got the alternator out, thanks to the 17" breaker bar i got from ACE Hardware

This is what it looks like (out of the car):

I removed the voltage regulator...........:

It is worn down.......brushed are shot!

Compared to a new reguator:

I have a rebuilt alternator ready to go (thanks Ian 944online.com), i purchased that alternator 3 years ago, never installed it on the NA. Now, i need it

I COULD just replace the regulator, hope for the best....but NO. A new alternaot and voltage regulator are going in. It had to remove the coolant crossover pipe, 3-4 turbocharger coolant hoses JUST to get enough room to work on the car.

Here's what I used last year when I took out the alternator to do the Iceshark kit: Nice big smack with a hammer (Them bolts are real tight!)

Good job Hussam! FWIW, if anyone needs to have extra clearance for big turbos with 4" inlets, you can get a smaller alternator from a Hyundai.. Some people say that a 924's alternator will fit as well, but you have to yank the belt pulley and install one from the 944.

Yes. That gave me a better access. It's fairly easy to remove. I had replaced the radiator the previous year, so I knew my way around.
