This is sort of an addon thread to 'I love my car'!
I have had on occasion, over the last month to drive:
1995 Hyundai Exel (the Watermelon, how I miss him!)
2000 Hyundai Accent ( My mother's car)
1996 Mitsubishi Lancer Coupe (#2 Daughter)
2005 Kia Cerato x 2 ( #1 Daughter and spouse)
Without exception I found them to have no road feel, soggy brakes, **** poor acceleration (except in 1st and 2nd), poor cornering, crappy handling, cramped drivers position (who has there knees bent when they drive anyway?
), and bloody too responsive power steering!!!!
It only makes me more appreciative of what I drive now.
Everyday! Even if I dont need to drive anywhere!
Praise be to the good Dr.!
And, YES, my house looks like a used car yard most of the time!!!!!

Well compared to a Hyundia a 944 is far more responsive.
But since your in Austrailia, your lucky enough to have access to Holdens and MGs, which (no offense..,) are probably are better than a 944 in different aspects.
This is kinda OT, but have you ever watched the Supercar V8 (I believe that is what its called) races in person?

Unfortunately the nearest races are in Brisbane and/or Darwin.
Look on a map. It's a bloody long way!
We get the races live on free to air and I try to watch everytime. Awesome ****! Bathurst is the ultimate and nearly a public holiday here (except it's a Sunday

There simply is no comparison between the 944 and the cars you metion. They simply were not engineered to drive the way a Porsche drives, no matter how 'younger' the cars are!
I suspect that if you drove a Lotus Elise, Mazda Miata, Corvette C06, Honda S2000, new Mini Cooper S, you may have a different view.

Man, I drove a new Mini S. Was not impressed to say the least. The whole driveline just kinda buzzed and sent a highspeed vibration up through the gear shift. It felt a little like grabbing a vibrator. There was way to much body roll and then there are those little tiny tires that look like they were stolen off a kids little red wagon. It's not a bad car but for the money, I would expect better.
