Ignition switch

Ignition switch
My ignition switch needs to be jiggled a bit to work. What do I need to buy, the key part or the plastic connector looking part?. I've seen both, the key part goes for about $35, the connector part goes for under $10 and looks like it'll be a whole lot easier to replace. I'd also like to avoid getting another key.
Symptom: Turning the key to the "on" position doesn't always turn anything on unless I play with it, also starting is intermittent.
Thanks all,
Tom

I'm assuming you have an early car? (put the year/model in your sig.?)
Chances are real good, that all you need is the electrical swich itself. The less than $10.00 part. You'll have to pull the steering wheel, colum switches and covers in order to get the entire switch/tumbler assy. out, so you can change it. I think clarks garage may have a writeup on this? If not, I know I've seen something, somewhere on the procedure to follow. Its not hard to do, just like anything else, patience, and researching the procedure is the way to go. There are a couple of gotcha's/things to be carefull with along the way with it, but nothing big. Good luck!
