Patrick,

If you are planning on keeping the car for a while, I suggest a new water pump. It cost almost twice as much, but the quality is unquestioned. I've gone 90k miles on a new water pump. Whenever I hear frightening warnings to change the water pump with every timing belt change, they always seems to come from people who buy rebuilt ones.

Many parts suppliers carry the one made by "Laso" for around $180, give or take. The ones who have it cheaper will often mark up the other parts (gasket, blocking plate, etc.) to the point where it doesn't matter where you buy.

For $90, I like the peace of mind, as well as being almost guaranteed to not have to replace it for twice as long . . .

Cheers,

Tony
