Loud ticking noise...

Dave, not to be the bearer of bad news, but you said oil pressure was high? Check the oil filler cap. Is there any evidence of water, or a small amount of jelly? If so, you are in for oil cooler seals. That was the exact symptoms that mine started with. Occasional collapsed lifter noise, slightly elevated oil pressure. Turned into blowing the gasket off the bottom of the oil filter.

It's not unusually high...it was at 5 bar when cold and settles to 3 like normal when warmed up at idle. That's how it's been as long as I've had the car. I'll have to try driving it today to see if the tapping noise comes back. When it was doing it, it sounded like it was coming from the back section of the valve cover.

Do the valves on these cars have adjustments that you have to make to them sometimes if one gets out of whack? Or am I in for possibly bigger problems in the near future if this symptom doesn't go away?

I have a loud ticking noise also. What could it be?
