Default Low-Rise Lift for the Home Garage

There's a thread in the 911 forum about low-rise lifts (see: "New garage toy/tool: low-rise lift. Very cool.") Does anybody have any experience with this approach for 944's? I do my work at home in the garage and can't install a real lift, so I thought this might be the next-best thing, then I don't have to deal with jack stands.

I've been wondering this too. Seems like it'd be a good idea.

The problem with lifts like these and our cars is we have a drive line from the front to the rear. there are cross bars that connect the lift pads to one another. These get in the way when working on exhaust, drive line, or anything else that runs from the from to the back. On rear engine cars they are great because there is nothing in way in past the lift pads. for the price you can get a four post and for not too much more a two post lift. You can adjust them so that it only picks your car up short of the ceiling so you don't accidentally smash your car. Just my .02.

I had this one Low Rise Lift
I had to place some wood along the sides so that I could clear the lift to get the 951 on it. My 98 Saturn and my wife's 98 Camry just cleared it.
Mobile enough, cheap enough, but in the end just annoying to have to keep making sure my car was in line and fear of scraping something valuable.
Especially in a two car garage.
I only paid $900

Just make sure you leave yourself some room to rebuild an engine
