Default David Letterman Interview

This was on USA Today's website today (5/23/05). Interview with David Letterman:

Q: What's the fastest you've driven in any car?

A: In North America the fastest was 140 mph; I used to have one of those old Porsche four-cylinder, turbocharged, I can't remember what it was. But anyway, it was 140 on the (Long Island Expressway).
Four cylinder, turbocharged? Has to be a 951 doesn't it?

"maybe" a 931 (might need a lot of road for that to see 140mph) , but i'de put my money on the 951 as well

951 or 931. No other choice here.

(OK Harry, unless it was a highly modified 912) :

IIRC Letterman was capped several time by NY and Conn cops for speeding- I always thought he was a Mercedes guy.

If I may quote Lloyd Bentson...

"Letterman, I knew Jerry Seinfeld and you are no Jerry Seinfeld."

Life must be good when you can buy $50k cars, and forget which model they were!

He probably didn't know what it was when he owned it.

That is cool that he had a Porsche. Must have been a 951.

UD - you impress me, I wonder how many listers read that and say wtf does he mean by that. I suppose it was only 1988 when that was said. Still that would have floated over most of the "kids" on hear as they were still in diapers then. I heard it live by the way.

The Maxx,

That's Letterman's favourite Ferrari. I think its a SuperAmerica 400 (or something like that--quite rare). It's pretty cool to know that he used to have a own a 931 or 951.

He's definitely no Seinfeld, Seinfeld would know every single porsche he's ever sat in. As a matter of fact doesn't he own one of each model / year?
