Default Ideas On Ignition Wires

I am looking to replace my wires. The ones in my car now may be original, not sure. The PO had covered the wires in rubber hose due to cracks in the wire rubber shielding.

What I have now are "Beru" connectors and unknown wires.

Here is what I have found so far for pricing:

- Fyrebraid $199
- Nology $195
- OEM $175+/-
- Beru $156+/-
- Knock off's w/Beru connectors $98
- Magnacore $95+/-
- Bosch $90+/-
- Jacobs $55+/-

Thinking that I am going to stick with middle of the road as far as pricing however I would love some feedback as to what others are using, how long they have used them and any problems that they have had regarding fitment etc.

Update 1: Was just shown a place to get the magnacores for under $50
Update 2: Just found Beru's for $118

Still looking

Michael

I was pricing various parts today for an '88 924S. When it came to plug wires, they said something like $275!
Everything else I priced was decent though..starter, alternator, brake pads and rotors...all a reasonable price!

Why are the plug wires so freakin expensive? Something special about them?

The Beru style ends are the special bit, not a damn thing at all special about the wires.

Default Magnacore wires

Buy Magnacore by the foot, for around ~$1/ft, then use the stock boots and Beru threaded tips. ~$20 should do it.

I'm interested in knowing where you found the Beru for $118.

George,

I have been looking at quite a few sites. The Beru's were originally priced at thePartsBin and later for $119 at 944online or Ians.

The two look to be the same based on the images that each provided.

I am still looking I was just not sure if I should be posting ALL of the sites that I am finding each at. Didn't / don't know if the comparison shopping was fair to Rennlist sponsors.

Michael You might check into this guy, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...976057411&rd=1, he has advertised on the Renn in the classifieds so he must be a member. His 928 Beru wires with ends are $90.

Yes, but note these sets don't include the expensive part -- the beru connectors! You have to reuse the connectors from your old set. These replacement wires terminate with the threaded fitting to reattach to the old connectors.

Not good value, if you ask me...

I have a set of Nology wires in the 954, they have issues with the moisture. I used silicone spray on the boots since the swap and have been ok since. Not sure if it's my set or Nology wires in general, they came off another 951 and the guy said he hated them. Been ok since the silicone for me tho. It would start up on only 2-3 cylinders untill it warmed a bit then clean up. It was the wires for sure.

I'd like to find the replacement wires w/o ends. I have like 4 sets of ends right now.
