Default 968 wing on a 944

Has anyone taken just the spoiler and side pieces from a 968 and put them on the 944 glass? I am wanting to get the 968 wing and i need to know if i need the whole hatch assembly or if just the side pieces will work.

The 968 wing won't fit the 944 without modification. The easiest way to do it is to buy the complete hatch from a 968 (~$1k) .

Ditto, and there happens to be one from a late 944s2 on ebay right now. The only difference is that the 3rd brake light is still in the old spot on the window, not on the wing.

You can do either - my 968 wing came off a 944 racecar so there were holes for the stock 944 attachment points already. Mike Murcia did the install by making a small bracket (looks cleaner and stronger than the way mine is attached.)

Of course the easiest is to just buy a 968 hatch and swap 'em but it is possible either way.

My spoiler by the look on the inside appears to of been fitted to the original hatch. It is well done , there are another couple of holes about 5mm along from the fixing.
From what I have seen on late 944s, the bridge spoiler is black. Mine is body colour which would be the logical thing to do on a retrofit, on mine all the pieces have been sprayed. (Bought it this way)
From previous threads and thoughts it seems better to get a late 944 or 968 rear hatch. All aftermarket etc. you have to do some monkeying around.

Personally I think the rubber lip on the back of the 944 is one if it's defining features, it's just so cool looking. I remember when I was a little kid and didn't know anything about cars, I always remembered and liked "that car" with the "rubber thing" on the back.

Just had to throw that in.

I am actually the high bidder on that wing listed on ebay but the reserve isnt met yet. i have also found a complete 968 hatch but he said he would sell just the wing and trim pieces if i wanted them. i like the 968 wing better cause the brake light is under the spoiler. thanks for all of the info

Sam, I like how your license plate is mounted. It looks so much better that way.

Your drains are plugged, clean them out.

Lots of people have written about this conversion, all are in the archives.
