I used VCT 1'x1' vinyl tiles They glue down easy, they are available everywhere, they are cheap, they clean up well. You see them in commercial applications everywhere, supermarkets, dept stores, auto parts stores ect.....Once they are glued they are forever...

pwille944,
Thats a good idea. My concern with the thicker tiles is when the 4 post lift comes in. Is you floor slippery when it gets wet? I would think because those tiles are so thin it would't matter with the weight of the lift on it.

I have been eyeing snap together garage tile flooring that Costco has on their web site. The brand is Motofloor and it comes in black and white 48 tile 1 ft x 1ft packs for $120, which is $2.50 per sq. ft. http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...pnav=&cat=&s=1
Has anyone used this stuff. --Roy--

Just seal that slab! Tile is a decent idea although it presents its own problems (slippery as hell when oil spills on it, can be damaged by heavy things falling on it, shows tire marks, hard to get traction on if you're putting the car on ramps, etc.) For a garage where you're going to do serious wrenching I'd consider just leaving the slab exposed - you can get good colored concrete for some aesthetic variation also. If it's just to store the car and you've got no oil leakage and aren't going to be doing tons of wrenching, then tile is fine.

How do these tiles hold up to jack use? Can you just start jacking your car up with the normal floor jack or do you have to spread the load out?

I'd put wood under the jack personally or you're going to dent up the tiles or crack 'em. They DO make extremely heavy-duty tiles that have high compressive strengths, but they're a bit on the expensive side. I think VCT would get badly deformed by such things, especially with a load on it for a while.

Other than the tiles, has anyone used the 'paint/epoxy' type finishes with an asphalt garage floor?

I'll also recommend Rustoleum Epoxy Floor Finish if you are willing to take the necessary steps to do it. In my Dad's garge the floor was already pretty oily and stained, but since your garage floor will be new you probably won't need to give it an acid wash so you can just paint it right on there. It's great for oil and whatever else gets on the floor, all you gotta do is mop it real quick. Although a few times it didn't seem to like wet Hoosier race tires. It's not NEARLY as glossy as that muscle gloss stuff, jeez!

Roy I found it on their website... it was in small print towards the bottom. We were talking about it on another forum (garagejunkies.net) a guy was saying the RD rep he was talking to denied that they make the Moto floor (Costco.com) and Garage deck (Overstock.com) So I dug deeper...

Here is what I found:

Garagedeck: http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield...tate=qr0aq.2.1
"Owner (APPLICANT) SNAP LOCK INDUSTRIES, INC. CORPORATION UTAH 1735 South 900 West Salt Lake City UTAH 84104 "

Motofloor: http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield...tate=qr0aq.3.1
"(APPLICANT) SNAP LOCK INDUSTRIES, INC. CORPORATION UTAH 1735 South 900 West Salt Lake City UTAH 84104"

Who is SNAP LOCK INDUSTRIES, INC. ----> Race Deck!

"© Copyright 2005, Snap Lock Industries, All Rights Reserved
RaceDeck® interlocking garage flooring is great for garages, shop floors, garage decks, garage mats, garage pads, motorcycle pads, pit flooring, shop flooring, garage tile, garage floors, show car flooring, race flooring, hospitality floors, and portable floors. There is no need to apply messy epoxy coatings, garage paints, garage coatings. RaceDeck®,CircleTrac®,MotoFloor®,FastDeck®,Diamond tile,SnapLock®,DuraGrid®,GarageDeck® installs in just hours or one of our authorized RaceDeck garage flooring dealers can install it for you, nationwide. "

So Moto Floor @ $1.87 this is a bargain.

UD's Manly Domain is Sick!- Sick I tell you!!! If my garage looked like that , believe me, the wife's minivan would sleep outside like a yard dog.
