I thought the S2 had the gigantic air box in the front which doesn't show in that pic. . . Maybe it was only certain ones (?) I don't know much about the 16v engines; I've only seen a couple first-hand.

No the S had the big air box in the front. The S2 had it under the header panel.

The paint can't have 70,000 on it if it was ever driven on a road with other cars. It must be a repaint which raises the issue why.

That is probably when the Turbo and S badges were added. As a TS owner I can say the S badge never came on the original cars. There was some Rennlister talking about adding the S on the back, the PO must have read about it and thought that was a good idea in his rear ender prevention scheme.

I see a potential leaky sunroof seal. look at the closest corner where the picture was taken. My car has a kinked side like that and it leaks.

"The previous owner changed the badge on the back to a Turbo because he thought it would warn tailgaters to back off better than the S2 badge, and let me tell you it works! I have the original S2 badge; I was going to change it back but never got around to it. The S2 could be put back on very easy, and besides, this car is just as fast as a Turbo (see upgrades below)"

he must not have 30 minutes out of a 24 hour day to do this the LUTZ. the tailgater part gets me, what the eff does that have to do with warning tailgaters. Why not just put a sticker on there saying "follow too close and get a brake check"

You guys _do_ realise that the stock S2 and the early (86-88) Turbos specs are actually very similar; they had to raise the Turbo spec from 220hp to 250hp (88 Turbos S spec) when they introduced the S2 in 1989 to keep the models lining up in terms of power. So the claim that the S2 is as fast as a (early, stock) Turbo is not all that inaccurate; actually, off-the-mark they are faster because of the lack of Turbo lag.

Just to trying to dampen the hysteria down a bit. FWIW, the S2 to Turbo badging could be considered a badging _downgrade_. Perhaps the guy is just modest.

More likely, it probably reflects the fact that to the to the uneducated general public, "Turbo" might mean more than "S2". And perhaps there are even a few listers who don't really understand what they're comparing here either?

Yeah, that is a little harsh. Who said that? I can't tell, there are so many people on my ignore list in this converstation that I can only see about 5 posts.

People that are poking fun at this guy need to take a step back and go look at their own cars. It's no different than running around with a "CS" badge on a non-CS car, which is not correct (but cool, I do like it), or running around with late offset wheels with no spacers that are too far in on an early offset car. Come on guys. Don't throw stones when you live in houses made of glass. Would you want someone picking your car apart?

No. You need to have the word 'Turbo' tattooed onto the back of each hand.

BTW: I play a little bit.....
