Default Motor's in, anything critical to do before starting it???

I finally got the new-to-me motor in the 951 and after adding coolant, I'm going to start it. (It will be a miracle if it starts, but that's a whole other issue- LOL!!!!) Anyway, anything I should do before I start it up? The motor hasn't been started in 3-4 months...

Thanks for your reply,

-CKKrause

Plenty of options for the nervous.

Squirt a bit of oil into the pistons.

Double-check all fluids and bolts.

Double -check electric connectors

Got the flywheel lock out?

Fuel lines secure?

Plug wires on right?

Disable the coil and the fuel pump and crank it until you "see" oil pressure on the gauge. Then connect everything up and see what happens.

Best of luck!!!!!

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!! Oil Pressure @ 5, Cooltant temp at lower middle mark and holding(Fans cycle!) No smoke! It started 1st try and ran smooth with a noisy lifter at 1st. In about 2 minutes, no lifter noise and a nice steady purrrrrrrr... Only problem is that I have no tach and no boost gage....I have to figure those out, put on sway bars, bleed clutch and brakes and I'm goin' for a ride!

Thanks for your advice!

Just do not over boost it....no tach indication, and boost! My younger ble the motor in his ricer eclipse that way.... Those are on the same indicator right? Did you have the dash out? may be an easy fix... Just a connection. Hopefully...

And congrats, I know how that feels when they fire up after being on the ground in pieces

Please let me know what you find!!!!
I have the same no tach/boost gauge problem.

I have an aftermarket boost gauge, so I'm okay on that front, but I need the tach...
