I'm certain any wrenching is not only allowed, but encouraged!.........well, as long as the car leaves at the end of the weekend!

OK then my alternator is just about gone, the battery light stays on under 2k RPM and it's not putting out more than 12V. I can probably still make it to the GTG but I'll need an alternator replaced. Anyone going have a good used alternator they want to sell me? Or not going that I can pick up?

Thanks in advance,

Maybe it can be repaired? New brushes are quick and easy to install. They were about $1 each at the alternator shop I went to in San Antonio.

Yea I thought of that but the smell of the belt burning tells me it won't be that simple. I just bought one on e-bay for $69 shipped, I don't think it'll get here in time though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Maybe I can rebuild it later, we'll see.

Thanks,

Bump... I just looked back to the original post. May 15! Five months ago since the first post about this GTG. The weather will be perfect. Highs in the 70's Saturday. And again, everyone is invited.

Yep, getting close! I will be bringing a guest, he is restoring a '78 924. The car is not done, so he will be riding with me, but maybe we will inspire him to get some more work done on it.

I'll still be there guys, unfortunately the 944 will not. The alternator won't be here in time and I can't risk driving it too far. I have a borrowed CRX.

Glad to hear you'll be there - I can't wait! Going to perform a light detail on the car tomorrow afternoon and head out Sat. morning for a nice hill country drive.......

So what's the schedule? I should definitely be able to make it. My car needs lots of little things, but most of them I don't have all of the supplies for so I guess there's not much I can do. Unless of course you guys feel like doing a clutch job, turbo install, and stand alone conversion.

Don't tempt us!!!

I *beleive* that the schedule is something like, get there at or before lunch - work/party till whenever, then breakfast for the survivors the next morning.

That is the plan, Sharky. We'll have plenty of food and drink available all day. It will probably be like a buffet all day and like you said "work/party till whenever, then breakfast for the survivors the next morning."

This ought to be fun!

Oh, and by the way. There will be a lot of people that can only come Sunday, and that's fine. So come on! We'll have plenty of food and drink.

I plan on leaving my house sometime around 9:00 I think. That puts me in Blanco around 9:30-9:45 or so. If you want, PM your number and I'll call you when I'm leaving the house.
