Anyway, babbling... back under the car!
I saw a commercial for that thing, got all excited, jumped online and found out it had 177hp. They should have just called it the new sunfire convertable. Give me a break.

Good point Incessant, I don't expect it to last if I beat the crap out of it but I plan on being gentle (as much as possible). My old N/A motor was reaching it's end... My speedometer broke 8 years or so before I stopped driving the car as a daily driver and it broke at 105K miles. I never really looked at it anyway so never fixed it
I didn't want to rebuild the motor or pay for someone to do it, I didn't want to build/buy/pay for a turbo motor... so when I just started to get that gut feeling that it wasn't going to be reliable as my daily commuter car, I garaged it. Then read about the LT1 conversion years later. I got my 40K mile 1994 LT1 for under $1500. Bought a conversion kit and figured that if I get this LT1 in there and working properly, it'll last a long time. I put a 1974 Bronco engine in my old 67 Mustang many many years ago and that V8 always started, always ran, never gave me any trouble... and that thing was old school tech. A modern 5.7ltr V8 that's been in production (well... most of it) since the 60s (I would assume) should last a life time as long as I change the oil
Besides that, these LT1 were built to last. The mustang V8 was fun but the car handled like crap. I've always wanted a powerful car that handled well... and will have that soon. If things work out, I'll upgrade the brakes and Transaxle. I'm not going to do clutch popping burnouts and beat it... I just want my 944 back and didn't want to buy another when I have one I've been fixing for 12 years (new bearings... new parts everywhere). I know that car like it's part of me. Now, I'm giving it a little boost of life... and besides... a 300 or so HP 350 FP of torque engine in a 944 in third gear should be one of the best driving experiences ever. I loved the N/A in third... I can't imagine what it'll be like now... I'll let everyone know in a few weeks. If things go well... maybe even on in 2 days !!!!!!
I love to procrastinate.

Oh, I have upgraded part of the suspension... it can handle the little extra weight now and with the added push of the engine to the rear, the tiny bit of extra front weight wont matter that much. I'll have more control of the weight distribution with the added power being able to shift weight by acceleration and so on. Think about it this way, the 911 is rear end heavy... do people complain I just have to learn to drive it again... and look forward to it.

See previous post on "technology". I'm in the market for a new "daily driver" - and for me that means 50 to 60 miles per day in Houston traffic. Gotta go new for the peace of mind. Having said that I'd love a 968 cab.

I like the front end of the Sky much better, but I like the interior of the Pontiac a little bit more. Decided the front end took preference over the dash in my case. Both are excellent looking automobiles.
