I had the same problem a while back - my a/c stopped working along with the heater. If you have central door locks you will notice that the red light in the center console switch no longer comes on when the doors are locked. It's a bad a/c clutch. info@944ecology.com email them they sell "just" clutch to the a/c for $200 dollars. You can do the job yourself without unloosening hoses or bothering the actual cooling system. just a few bolts a wire and a little fight with snap ring pliers. mine worked for about 8 months but the part was 2nd hand and wore out again but before you start CHECK THE GROUND (THICK BLACK) WIRE TO THE A/C CLUTCH this was my actual problem- the plactic on the wire had burnt off and the bare wire was shorting out the system. The "a/c specialist" didn't even check it.
