Has anyone installed the Porche factory motorsport 944 brake cooling ductwork? The PO gave me this stuff with the car and I have yet to isntall it. I am talking about the ones with 2 plastic curved pieces for each side (one with an aluminum bracket), that were apparently made for Porsche for the 944 turbo cup cars that ran in a series in the 80s. My set looks used but in good condition, still has the Porsche motorsport part no. stickers on them. Pics of install would be greatly appreciated.

The turbo cup ones are slightly different. If you get me a pic I can tell you what you have and help.

Here, I forgot I had this pic. This is the Turbo Cup deflector. Is this what you have, or is it the front duct that is squarish and shaped sortof like an "S" and has a L-shaped bracket?

Are the part numbers 944 341 555(6) 01 and 944 341 051(2) 01, or 951 341 511 30? Is this what you have?

My guess is that you have the 968 cooling scoops, which are both plastic, upper and lower, and require a fabricated metal bracket for the lower piece (that bolts on top of the swaybar link bushings) when used on 944 control arms (968 arms have mounting holes cast in them). I believe the factory motorsport cars used just a lower plastic scoop (shown above which is slightly different than the 968 part) in conjunction with the standard turbo aluminum upper deflector plate.

The part nos. are the ones starting with 944 listed in the post below. Pics are attached. One shows what the bracket looks like. So these the 968 ones I guess? They look similar or the same as the ones in the frozenrotors link. Anyone have a pic of what they look like installed? I could probably figure it out but I've thought that before.

Yep, those are the 968 scoops with adapter bracket. I have always used those brackets with the alum a-arm cars which have different sway bar mounting points/bushings than the steel arm cars. Im not positive that the brackets for the lower scoop will work, as is, with the steel arms. But its worth a try, or a phone call to the frozen rotor guys.

The scoops work with the steel arms. You just have to cut off about 1" from the outside end of the lower scoop to clear the wheel, due to less offset and the shorter control arm on the early cars. I used sheet metal shears. The frozenrotors bracket will mount under the top bolt of the sway bar link, or you can make your own brackets, which is what I did on my '86.

Thanks, guys. I eyeballed this stuff this morning and think I figured out how these things go (I marked the parts "D" and "P" so I'll remember which side they go on). I will trim the outside edge as Smokey suggested. It looks like an easy install.

Can someone confirm that the scoops with the metal brackets in the pics I posted (which I think are the "lower" scoops) are secured to the upper bolt of the sway bar mounting bracket? That is how I did it. And how do the other (upper) scoops attach? I believe the 968 had holes drilled and tapped in the control arms to mount these things, but my 924S doesn't have them and I have no idea how to secure the upper scoops. What exactly do they attach to? I see they have 2 holes but I don't see anywhere to bolt them to. Any help? Thanks
