The endurance series we are starting to race in - has a rule allowing max 66 liters in the entire system. The interesting part is that the 944 have been explicitly listed in their rules (among a few others) as an allowed car in the series.
Problem: 944 85.5 has a 79.5 liter fuel tank!!
I don't know how many years the 944 have been mentioned in their rules, but nevertheless, 3 out of 4 944:s was disqualified from the finals last year, when the tech responsible for the series discovered the huge volume of the 944 85.5 fuel tank.
I do not want to buy a racing fuel cell, as these are incredibly expensive, and I think they must be replaced every five years. I think the early 944 have a 66 liter fuel tank, but does anyone know if the two fuel tanks are interchangeable?
IF I have to further decrease capacity (due to some fuel being in fuel lines and similar), can someone point me in the direction of how one can decrease capacity with 1-2 liters and not go bankrupt? :-)
Thanks
/Ørjan

Danno,
The earl y cars came with a 17.4 gallon metal tank.
For 85.5 and later all cars (except the 924S) came with a plastic 21 gallon tank.
I think they increased the tank size when made the turbo model. Of course they put in all 944 models after the 85.5 change.
Note the light typically comes on at 18 gallons, but it is 21.1 gallon tank. Search the archives and you will find the extact numbers.

I don't know.
You may need to change to the early tranny mounting to make it fit.

I had a little dig into PET, and it seems like there are three different tanks for our cars, plus one revised for the 968...
924 - 62 liters (not 66 as referred to by many - included my local Porsche dealer
)
944 type 1 - same as above
944 type 2 - 80 liters (I have no exact volume in PET for this tank)
968 has the same 80 liters volume, and it looks very similar. It has a different part number though.
924 Turbo and Carrera GT(x) has a special 84 liters volume fuel tank. May have been optional.
That's all I could find. I'm all certain that errors will be corrected![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
