924S/pre 85.5 944 steering wheel question
Is the material covering the rim genuine leather? I am talking about the large diameter three-spoke rim that came standard on the 924, 924S and pre-85.5 944. Thanks

It varies, some came with the 3 spoke and come came with 4 spoke wheels. I have a 4 spoke (leather) and I know that I have option code: 431 - Leather steering wheel so I am guessing specifically that is for a 4 spoke.

My '84 came with the 3 spoke, no leather originally, but it has it now - there's a nice sew on cover avaliable for them. I think it cost me like $40 from performance.

My 84 944 has 3 spoke real leather.
my 87 924S parts car had vinyl 3 spoke.
My 84 944 spec car had an aftermarket one.
I am not sure on my 83 as the one in the was pretty old. Now it has the nice one from my 87 924S
I think one on my 88 924S is leather, but it beat to hell too.
951 4 spoke is leather, My father previous 86 951 (4 spoke pre airbag) was leather. My parents 928 4 spoke is leather.

The sport steering wheel option in the early cars is the 4-spoke leather wrap, just like the 86 951 stock wheel. THe only difference that I've noticed is that the horn pad in the early cars was plastic, and in the turbo's were leather.
