Default X-post: MAF for your 944?

Recently I received few inquiries regarding a MAF setup for the 944 NA. I wanted to check with you guys and get your opinions.

We offer a MAF kit for the 951 with great success, we also have MAF kit for the 944NA. We will continue to offer such kits, in addition we are looking at offering a DIY kit for the 944 NA. We will provide you the software, and you source out the components.

The 944 NA can use many available MAFs, actually you can pick them up from the dismantler near you. There will be a list of supported MAF and how to hook them up so you can use them with our software. The software is not converted VAF/AFM software, we actually convert the transfer function in the code which is the proper way for converting to MAF.

Of course, those of you that want a complete kit, we will offer it as well! Is there any interest in a DIY kit for the 944?

Well we are talking about two different options:
* a complete MAF kit where we supply the MAF, connectors, software etc... This option is for someone wanting a complete system plug & play with out full support.
* Just the chip and you get the MAF, make your connector.... This option is for someone willing to do some leg work by finding the MAF and doing the wiring, fitting and debugging on their own.

I do not have firm prices yet, but for a complete kit you will be looking at $950 or so. For the sofware (chip only) you are looking at around $500.

We will be releasing a list of MAFs that we will support, so those opting for the chip only can stop at a dismantler and pick a used MAF for few $$..

Do you happen to have any performance figures? I think I read that turbo owners get an additional 20-30 hp just by converting from the stock AFM to a MAF unit. Would it be similar for a NA?

Sounds very interesting. I am most interested however in what the peformance gains would be. Any numbers or estimates available, or is it to early to tell?

The gains will be in 2 forms: You have the crisp response, instant on response which must be experienced by driving it. Then you have the performance gains, which can be measured on the dyno.

We plan on dynoing a before and after MAF on the same car & the same day. We will post results...

Good news! The DYI kit will come to life. I will be making a list of the MAF you can use and how to wire it. I will be providing you with the software, you will do the leg work. I'm hoping to have the site updated within a week or so.
