Default AVON tyres - any reviews?

Has anyone tried the Avon tires that Tirerack sells? Any feedback? They seem like decent tires for the price, but I'm not buying until I get some real-world reviews.

I'm not sure about their tires, but AVON makes a mean eyeliner...

Avon and Cooper do use the same facilities. Avon was, until recently, only marketed in Europe (huge in England). In the motorcycle world Avon has been a player for a while.

I have not tested them (A500 line) personally and I havent driven on an Avon tire since I left England in 1996.

Good motorcycle tires but I don't think they come in our sizes. Sorry, but their bike tires are very good and are gaining popularity in the US. However, I've never tried any of their auto tires.

I've only had experience with AVONs in the UK, on my '83 N/A. The range of tires they offer in the US seems different.

We just got some Avon Tech M500 tires for our 951. The tire rack guy recomended them over the fuzions, so we went with them. 225/50/16 in the front and 245/50/16 in the back. The tire rack guy said it was like 1/16th of an inch difference in diameter. So far theyare fine and have very little sidwall flex. Probably have ~300 miles on them so far, and the old tires were crap....

Well, the Tire Rack guy lied to you. A 245/50R16 is 25.7" tall a 245/45R16 is 24.6" tall. Not exactly 1/16." Why did he even suggest that size? They make a 245/45R16 in the M500. Did you go with the AS? If so, I can see why he suggested the size (they dont make the right one) and why he suggested it over Fuzion (which is not an All Season tire).

Oh yah, I forgot to mention the all season stuff. My dad wanted a tire that would work decent if the weather changes much, like it does here in the Pacific NW.

How much of a difference does the extra sidewall make in car feel and handling?

I posted about these on my Civic the other day. I haven't put a set on my Porsche yet but will definitely do so after my experience with them on the Honda. They are fantastic. check this very short thread, another lister has them on his 968

Hey Guyz,

I have 205/55 R15 ZV3's all round on my 944S they are excellent in the dry but can be a bit slippy in the wet.
