There's one in the Chicago area with a Buick Grand National V-6 Turbo racing engine. I have seen it up close, it fits.
Neat engineering experiment, but I still kinda scratch my head when I see non-Porsche engines stuffed into these cars...

Hehe, funny thing.. When I first started looking at 944's, i didn't know if there was a 4cyl and a 6cyl version lol. I think i thought the turbo was a 6cyl, because at that time i saw at least 5 944's on ebay saying they had 6cyls in the top box on the ebay page that has teh mileage and stuff.

The early "hot air" GN engines had about 200hp, later intercooled had 250. The ty/sy 4.3 had a "raiting" of 270 (more like over 300). These engines all respond well to simple tricks. Common to see them hit over 400hp with a few mods. Most I've seen was 1200hp out of a 4.1 buick v6.
BTW the hp numbers might not impress. But the torque was 300-375ft-lbs out of these engines.

Actually, the GNX motor car is faster in every way than almost any of the 951s on this list. The guy who built it is also super nice. Must be nice to have the problem of breaking clutches (his only real complaint).

Once I convince my dad to give me his engine, there will be a 944 with a turbo volvo 5 cyl.
