I have aftermarket struts, the fenders are rolled but nothing major on the front end.

Yes, 225/45R17 in the front and 255/40R17 in the rear. With the right coil over you could easily run 255/40R17 all around. Good luck finding a pair of rears, they cost as much as a set does. The 7s are worthless.

What's the widest possible without using coil overs or rolling the fender?

Gah, I guess i'll just keep the 7's for now and throw some 225's on there. (Did i tell you how funny it looks with the 205's on it?)

I've just received a set of 17X9 CCW's with 245/40/17's mounted. I'll mount them tomorrow and report on fit. I have stock suspension and haven't rolled the fenders.

Not every 255 will fit in the front. Tires vary greatly. You would be hard pressed to put a 255 es100 up front (one of the widest street tires) without major rubbing.

It is a matter of what it up front, with coilovers you could fit an 11, maybe even a 12 up there with a 305 or so.
Wes - the 225 on the 8.5" wheel is really a nice fit.

Matt,
I've been toying with the idea of getting new wheels but am not sure what the best choices are. I like the idea of being able to use OEM wheels wheels the 7" fronts are just too narrow. I'm hesitant to spend $4k+ on custom sheels and would like find a way to make it work with OEM.
Could you explain how 986 rear wheels fit on the fronts of 951s? My goal is to try to have the fronts and rears as close as possible in width. 245/265 in 18" maybe?

"What's the widest possible without using coil overs or rolling the fender?"
A 9" wide rim with 245mm tyres is about most you want up front with stock offsets. A 255mm tyre's gonna need some juggling of clearances between the outside and inside. You'll need to move the tyre inwards (increase offset) to free up some clearance with the fender. Which would then require coil-overs to use a 10" rim for optimum performance with a 255mm tyre. Typically a 9.5" rim with stock offsets will just barely rub the strut & springs on the inside.

Thanks! can that be achieved using OEM wheels? There was a refernce to using rear wheels on the front.
Danno, Why did you take out you RacerX951 link from your signature?
