Liability only. Full coverage costs much more per year than the car is worth.

Very sorry to hear this, Serge. Was the factory immobiliser activated, or was there an aftermarket anti-theft system of any type on the car?

Unfortunately, the crest on the hood provides all the needed rationale for a certain mindset, I suspect. The "Turbo" badge on the back would add extra incentive. I suppose "hey, guys, I boosted a Porsche Turbo last night..." has a certain value in terms of bragging rights in some circles...

The other aspect of all of this is that many people just don't realise that these cars aren't high dollar value propositions. It's the dark corollary of the "How old do people think your car is?" thread. And of course, if it's just a joy-rider, the value of the car isn't all that relevant. "Porsche Turbo" = "fast" (and of course, he's right...)

Once again, very sorry to hear this, Serge. Hope things resolve as best as is possible in the circumstances.

I'm 18, so anything more than bare-minimum is far too rich for my blood. I can't wait for my insurance rates to drop.

I haven't had much luck with my car in this apartment. A tire was punctured with a knife last year. The doors have been keyed numerous times. It was stolen by someone who lives here or a friend of someone. You're right Mark - many people see the badge and their eyes turn green with envy.

damn dude. that really sucks. I hope you find it in one piece. CHP won't do much, but you might have better luck because Davis is such a small town. What did the local PD say?
