Letting the 89S2 go
Alright Everyone,
After having the car for just under a year, and putting in almost $6k in repairs, I am letting the Red Rocket go to a new home. I thought I had it sold, but that did not work out as planed. Can everyone give me a feel on price?
The interior is a 9 out of 10. No dash cracks, new sat radio, black leather, and the only thing not working is the clock.
The exterior is fair. It is red and looks great when waxed up, but has some fading and needs TLC to keep it looking good.
Recent fixes:
All new belts, New radiator, new steel brake lines, new brake master cylinder, all new hoses.
Has 63k, but the title is "exempt", I believe do to past odo repair. Only known items that need attention are replacement of rear tires, and an intermitant "ant-lock" light (it just drives me nuts!).
Thoughts?
ps -- Only getting rid of it because the wife is due in Aug with our first child and its time to get an SUV! Yuck! The things we do for our family!

It's shame you have to sell it for another vehicle. The hard part of ownership is over and the fun part begins. I dropped almost $8k into my car in the first two years.....
How much are you asking?

What I wanna know is why do you need an SUV for a tiny little child?? What's wrong with a nice sporty sedan with plenty of back seat room? Unless you get a huge Suburban or monster truck, you WON'T get any more seating than a sedan provides.
Congrats though!!

Dont forget to list the Firehawk chip you put in the car! Sorry to hear you have to sell. Who knows maybe it will get turned into a F class racer (they are getting pretty popular in F)

Is the 944 your only car? whats your wife drive? . . and WHY in the world do you want an SUV? Keep the 944, sell your wife's car, and get a subaru WRX wagon for her to drive: safe, fast, cheap, reliable.

Wish it was that easy! I have to admit, this was a tough decision. I had to get rid of one of the following: 74 911S, 02 SS Z28 Convert, or the 89 944S2. I had to go with the 944 S2.

Not to hijack the thread, but isn't it funny that people talk about the complex and unreliable 16v S2, but damn near all S2's seem to have north of 120K miles on them? Aside from routine maintenance, a $16 plastic tensioner pad, a new clutch, a couple engine mounts and an oil pressure sender will probably get an S2 from 0 to 220K miles in style. Great cars.

Oh, as for your price, hard to say. With good documentation of the repairs/maintenance maybe $6500? try some cut wax on that faded paint, it works wonders. And try cleaning the ABS sensors.
