Short throw shift levers?
I am looking into getting a short throw shifter for my 1988 944 N/A. I want to maintain the the stock look of the shift lever cover. What Short throw shifter would u guys reccomend? Also how much of a diffrance do they make?
Thanks in advance.

I believe the only short throws for these cars attach in the linkage at the tranny end, I don't think there are any shorter levers per say. Maybe there are some out there that i am not familiar with though.

SpeedForceRacing makes a shortened lever. I have heard they have issues with vibration however as you cannot use the stock shift **** (which is weighted).
Personally i would go with the short throw linkage.

I am sorry i may have miss spoken then but i am looking for the short throw mod. I do not know alot about these mods and how they work just that they work. I was just thinking of the modes that make the throw shorter, i am not actually sure if they connect to the lever directly or the tranny. But i have seen some ads for ones that do not allow u to keep the stck shift boot and handle which i want to do.

Yea the linkage attatchs to the tranny in the back. So it won't make your lever any shorter. But after installing my ssk i wanted to make my lever shorter. So i just took it out and cut it shorter and welded it back togethor. Kinda ghetto but it looks awesome.

Go for the linkage above the tranny. I would personally go with the kit from 944Racing. You can still find them on eBay, however he has none up for auction right now.

I have it on my car, makes a huge difference. Also makes the gates a bit notchy, so no more question as to if the car is in gear or not. A great upgrade if your looking for shorter throws.
