Default Lack of power between 4-5000rpm?

Hi Guys,
New to the forum, great job you're all doing with it,looks like the place to be for serious 944 chat!
I've just bought a 1991 944 turbo and now the initial buzz is over I've had a chance to evaluate the car a bit better. It drives almost faultlessly but seems to have a serious flatspot between 4-5000rpm.This isn't noticable in first and second but I guess that's 'cos they are over with so quickly. In third, fourth and fifth it pulls hard until those revs, then feels flat and lifeless, then pulls hard to the redline after.
It's got a cone filter,Lindsey boost enhancer and BBR chips fitted.I didn't know about the chips so bought Autothority items at the weekend. When I fitted them the car ran like a dog, misfiring, backfiring,no performance,it was horrible. So I fitted the BBR chips back and it drives great again.Only mentioning this incase it has some bearing on the original rpm problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mike
