so, a friend of mine is selling his '84 944 NA with 74.000 mi. only thing i can tell that is wrong is that the AC doesnt work.....I'd just as soon take it out. very good black paint. good black leather seats(regular, not sport) and no cracks in the dash. good fuches. it's got all the records. he wants $4400 for it. what'dyall think?

944's for some reason tend to fetch a bit more in the Long Island area. Atleast thats what my experience was when i was looking for a car.

Sounds like the cosmetic condition is very good. An early car with an un-cracked dash is pretty rare (I think). Good cosmetics (truly good, not cover up stuff) is an indicator of a looked-after car. If the records are detailed and the mileage is a true 74K (i.e. not 174K - possible with the five digit odos of the early cars) then I would say this looks like a pretty fair deal. (Of course you need to do all the usual due diligence - PPI etc.)
