Default Beware Parts Werks of Chicago

Hey peoples...

I got found my second broken weld on my rebuilt cat. ....these guys suck..

I sent them the original pipe with the cat and they lost the order and it took a month to get the rebuilt one..plus they didn't re tap the O2 sensor threads so that really sucked..and ...they didn't send me a 994S cat. which was just a tad shorter and did hook up fine...but not such a classy job in my opinion...

Now this thing has had two broken welds..i think its the same one....hoping my muffler shop guy can re weld it again...i wonder if the metal is too fatigued..

i know don't know jack about metal or welding...though ...

I think the best bet for stock exhaust maybe paragon's cat. and have it welded in...$250 bucks...perhaps a little more..

peace

I don't know about Part Werks of Chicago but, could the welds be breaking for another reason?

I know from experience that bad motor mounts will snap every weld in the exhaust. Not doubting you ...just offering another viewpoint. Could you load up some pics?

Add my name to the "won't buy from Parts Werks" list. I got burned by them a while back over an ebay auction, and since then have watched them come up in threads lik this repeatedly.

Regards,

hehe, the buyer backed out. I'm trying to convince myself to just hang on to the 944. We'll see...

as for welds cracking due to engine vibration..

I had the mouonts changed last year...my mechanic is pretty solid and I think he would have told me if the car was vibrating out of the norm..but I will take that into consideration...

I don't have pics...I could hear a rattle and couldn't figure out what part of the cat it was from...Then today I saw in the sun light, a little water dripping from the cat. and could see a loose pipe....

Parts Werks...is lame even if the workmanship isn't to blame...they sent me the wrong cat. (although it fit) after I talked to the sales rep to confirm that he understood I have a 994 S...and the holes not being retapped is F*%$king lame...how many people have those thread sets sitting around their tool chest..?

Haven't been there yet, but everyone in the SF Bay Area seems to know about Parts Heaven..I talked to them on the phone and checked out their web site...looks really cool...and they ship nation wide...

Wow. 7 years ago I got burned by Part Werks. It sounds like they're still up to their old tricks. They took my money for a foglight & never sent it. When I asked them to send me another one they accused me of breaking the one they allegedly sent.

I bought a few things from Part Werks 3 years ago on ebay...just small things, but I do remember something taking a LONG time to get shipped...and i don't think they bothered to leave feedback.

I got screwed on my door handle repair pieces. One was broken and it took them about 6 weeks to replace it. That's just damn rediculous!

What is a "rebuilt" catalytic converter? What exactly can be rebuilt about them? If they are worn out, I can't imagine you can really save all that much about them.... Does rebuilt just mean cracks welded up?
