I wouldn't say the table is too accurate. One thing I have noticed about the Excellence tables is that they are good at predicting trends. Don't look at the dollar values, but consider the trend. There has been a slight upward trend in 931 values since the year 2000 which is reflected in the table. I've noticed the same ability to highlight value trends in the Excellence tables for the 968 and 914.

Call the guy and make an appointment to go look at it. Take along $1K in cash and if its what you want and not a total POS, offer him $1K and pull out the money. He'd probably take it.

Bring friends along since you will be carrying that much cash.

I'd like to have a 931 just for the rareity. Basically it all boils down to how much I can con the guy down to. $1000 I might buy it, any less and I will for sure.

Just be careful of the transmission. The dog-leg five speed takes plenty of abuse because of the awkward 1st/2nd pattern. Also, the dog-leg tranny is tricky to get replacement parts for if it has to be re-built.

Ok call me dumb but what is a "dog-leg" tranny? Does 924's have transaxle's like us 944/951 guys?

924's all have a transaxles like the 944/951/968, just less power!

Regular Shift Patter:

135
24R

Dog-leg shift pattern:

R24
135

The 931 dog-leg tranny is also known as the snailshell because of the pattern on the diff housing.

That is the very last of the 931s with the 5 lug wheels and it appears to be in decent shape. At 1K it would be a good buy, if you like messing with them. I would love to have one to tool around in.

It looks pretty rough, Generally what I have learned is if people dont take care of the outside, They generally dont take care of the inside. But they are rare.. I like the hood... and the vented nose panel.

Thats an old Ohio plate. Like 4 versions ago. Hardly see those anymore. I bet its the original plate on the car. To me that tends to tell me it could be an original owner. Usually you get new plates on each new title.

Just thought Id mention that. I just paid my registration this year on my collector plates and it was $89 for each car, but only $5 more for a new set of plates. Go figure. Now I have a set of spares. Ohio just went embossless. I dont like em laminated.

Now that I think about that plate a little more, I think late 70s/early 80s the Ohio plates had green numerals and they went to the blue numerals in the mid to late 80s. So that plate might not be original, but given its age it lends itself to the probability that the car has been in the same household for many years.

I could have made millions buying and selling 931's...... Seriously though I would really like to have that hood. Does anyone know if a 931 hood would replace my existing 944 hood without modification?

According to the VIN that car is an '81 and will have the same tranny as the early 944's and the more refined ignition system.

Wes...Buy It!
