Looks really tacky if it doesn't extend all the way to the bottom.

I know form is important but functionality is more important to me. I need something like these for my 944 but the $100 thing has moved them way down on my list. I found this picture on Rennlist and I actually like the way they look on this 937.

Maybe if they were the same color as the car then they would be nice but the black just sticks out to much and takes away from the whole look of the car

Hey.. I've got something like what you're saying Jeff. Came with the car so I'm not exactly sure what they are, but they look pretty much like 930 stone guards.

Personally I like 'em. Half the reason I bought the car was its unique looks.

Interesting touch - how do they adhere to the bumpy texture of the rocker panels? Does your car not have that bumpy stuff or something? The wheels are turning again now. . .

P-O-P that last set up looks just like a 930 stone gaurd and a rubber strip running front to rear. IMO it looks very good (especially versus yellowed ones)

look here: http://porsche.the-cow.org/gallery/d...album=4&pos=19

avai: hope you don't mind! You posted the site so I think it's ok for me to post that link...just not sure you want somebody copying your very unique "option." Nice car

I looove ivai's car! It looks even better in person!

I really like the look of the 930 stone guards on his. It accents the lines of the car unlike anything I've seen before. I've seen a bunch of 944s that had the standard rock guard painted black, or replaced with something in the same shape that was black, but none looked as good as Jeff's car.

We might have a winner here....

Heh.. thanks guys.. The black stonegaurds on the rear fender well are stuck on there somehow... Super adhesive or something... and the rubber things running down the rocker panels are sorta clipped to a metal strip (about 2cm wide) thats screwed into the rocker panel, and yes mine is bumpy, it covers that area perfectly.

I'll try to take some photos later today of it with the rubber part off... One thing though, I need to replace that metal clip thing sometimes, as in some parts its slightly cracked. You'll see...

PS, I don't have any side molding, I think it would look wrong with the black 930 accents, but it didn't come with my car anyways when I got it

It does look really nice and I could certainly make those but I'm concerned about the adhesion to the rocker panels (although a good cleaning and use of a heat gun at install time would probably make 'em stick).

The other thing that I notice is that there's no protection behind the fenders themselves unless you have clear ones there or something. Remember, form follows function. If it looks great but I end up needing a $5,000 paint job in two years because the fender lips are torn up, it hasn't accomplished anything. As a basic starting point, Porsche put stone guards on the cars for a reason and given how pitted up my old ones were, I can certainly say it was a good idea. I think the areas of the stock guards should be what is covered at a minimum. I can probably compromise on the area in front of the rear wheel to accommodate the "shark fin" of the 930 guard, since I didn't observe any pitting on my original guards there. The ones to the rear of the fender wells definately need to be there though, IMO.

Second question - I notice you left about a 1/4" gap between the back edge of the guard and the fender lip. Aesthetically I like this because it defines the edge better by allowing some white to show through (especially at a distance), but I wonder about pitting and damage there.

When I had my white 944, I did the black stone guard thing as well! I have black fuchs as well, it actually looked really nice. I tried it on my Zermatt 952, but it looked like ***. On white is right though.

There are clear covers on the rear of the rear fenders, and on both parts of the front fenders.

The rear 1/4" that isn't covered by the rock guard is not pitted, chipped, damaged, etc... just has some bug splatter and dirt actually (haven't washed in a couple weeks)

http://porsche.the-cow.org/gallery/d...lbum=17&pos=43

And scroll forward to see the rest of the up close shots... thats my driverside one.. its kinda falling apart

Anyways, I may do some research as well Jeff to see how I can at least get a replacement for that clip. Does anyone know if this is how the 930 accents attach?

NZ, have you got any photos of your white 944? I've been considering painting my wheels black, but haven't decided...
