Both BMW and Porsche are good cars to own depend on what you want.
I have owned 7 bimmers and 2 porsches in the last 10 years. My Bimmers are giving me more work to do than my Porsches.
Bimmer issues: Radiator, water pump, themo, vanos and idling
Porsche issue: Oil leaking. Very expensive to do t belt and clutch.

When did the 325i come with Vanos? And what is it, and is it any good? I've been looking at a few 325 for sale in the UK for when I move back there and noticed quite a few 325es - is this 'es' the same as the E30 es? I was lead to believe this was an economy version of the 2.5 engine and was a bad feature. Also when did the 328 first appear? and are they much better?
I really need to start looking on the BMW forums for info, but I still have a few more weeks before we move back anyway. Does anyone know any good BMW forums other than bimmerforums and the pelican ones - ideally UK based ones?
Cheers
Andy
