Aluminum Oil Filter with replaceable element

I always had oil in mine too when I would change the element, just not very much. For example, I tried the screwdriver through the fitler removal method on a regular filter once, and oil went spraying out of the holes. On the other hand, when I would undo the cap on my CM filter housing there would be ZERO spillage.
I know others have experienced this, I just can't recall who right off.

I have the Canton filter on my 968 and thought I was being SMART by installing it since I didn't like spilling a quart of oil (exaggeration) all over my engine and garage floor every time I changed the oil. And, since I bought my filters at the local Porsche dealer who is notorious for high prices, there wasn't much difference in the cost for the Canton replacement cartridges.
All that being said, I just went out and unscrewed the top off the Canton filter which has been in the car for about 3000 miles. Guess what I didn't find inside? Oil !!! I will be replacing the Canton filter with a Porsche (Mahle?) filter before driving again. Good info on this list.
Thanks,
Mike Dayton
