Exclamation Oil cooler - WARNING: hardcore inside !

I have noticed a small oil leak near the oil cooler housing (external). Decided to buy oil cooler gasket set and invest some time to fix it. Just look what I discovered inside the housing - another, internal oil leak caused by worn oring. Oil was leaking into the cooling system. Funny thing is that there were no milkshake - both oil and cooolant were clear !

This thing is M44's classics. Don't wait with Your oil cooler job - You never knew what is inside !

I had some chunky sludge like that in my 951's cooling system, it looked like somebody put kitty litter in the coolant. I presumed it was stop-leak or something like that...

What the easiest way to see if you have oil in the coolant? Inspect the coolant tank?

Observing the coolant through the cap and coolant takn walls should give info about oil in the coolant. You can also inspect old coolant during coolant change. Flush of the system with proper agent should release oil deposit.

My Question: The factory manual describes the procedure of cleaning cooling system afer oil presence. It states: "Use 2 liters of cold cleaning agent ant top-up to 6 liters with warm water...".

What kind of cleaning agent to use ???? 2 liters seems to be pretty much ! Manual says: repeat the procedure, so it makes 4 liters.

I'm not sure what brands you have in Poland but Tide or other brands of laundry detergent have been recommended for use as the cleaning agent.
