I have never done this- personally dont know anyone who has, you may want to search for "Late interior swap" or similar criteria. There is one on Car Domain- but I cant seem to locate the profile.

AFAIK You would have to swap the entire dash, a lot of electrical, the speedo cable goes to the tranny vs the front hub, door cards- I'm sure a lot more- as I said I have not done this- not considered it.
Tod or George may have more info as they have parted a few, hopefully they will see this and comment.

Possible- anything is possible. difficult- I would imagine yes.

Ain't gonna work. You would have to change the entire dash including the A/C, wire harnesses center console and a bunch of other stuff. The you would discover that the early door panels do not match the later dash.

Actually, doesn't the guy -Riplin- doing the heavy "tuning" to his type 1 (last post was just yesterday on this thread)- have the later dash in his?

Ya know, it's not the dash I don't like, it's the yellow on black gauges. Is there someway of changing out the 944 gauges for the 924's white on black gauges? or does anyone make replacement faces in white on black? I'm not much a fan of black on white either, yea I know picky.

Yes..............sorta like the still-born 924S2 that would have had the oval dash, different front end, and 16V motor?

Too bad the factory never moved on the project to make it a 1989 model.

What's wrong with the early panel? It's more simple, straightforward and honest in my opinion.

I can attest that this is possible (and in fact very easy). I put white guages from a 924S into my early 944 and they work just fine.

Nothing wrong at all. I actually like my 924S dash. But the late dash has better cooling vents and is an improvement over the early style. Not sure I'd ever go to the expense to change, just thinking about what could have been if Porsche had not abondoned us.
