Default SoCal A/C day?

It's official -- it is friggin' hot! I'm thinking we need to have a get-together sometime soon to do a little AC system diagnostic and recharge session. And of course

Good news is that I have a case of R12.

Bad news is that I only have one AC oil charge and no place to host it. And after this weekend, I'm out of town for three weekends in a row... So maybe this Sunday?

Anyone interested?

Joe, yes put me down as interested. I just ordered two new receiver-driers (one for each car) and a bunch of o-rings. I have to swap the compressor this weekend on the 951 and I'd then like to get it leak-tested and vaccummed out. Do you have a way to do that or do you know of a good shop that will do it? Cheapest I've found is $75 to do the vaccum & UV test. I also have the charging manifold that I'll donate for use by anyone interested (that sucker was about $120 so it'll probably be something people won't want to buy on their own) My wife is going to borrow the car in two weeks to go to AZ with her friend so I'd like to have it working by then. Is that do-able? Also, Long Beach Grand Prix is next week (arrghhh!!! I'll love it, but I'll have no time to wrench then until late evening). Anyway, yea - put me down as interested and I'll definately either show up or people can come to my place to do it again if a location is needed. . .

I just bought a place with a 7800 square ft. lot in Long Beach but have all my tools at home still. Let me know if you guys want to do it here...

Really? Wow! That's like a parking space for 50 cars!

Jeff, I don't have any way of vacuuming or leak-checking -- just charging stuff up. Since this weekend is my only free weekend, one option is to do a couple of cars, and then leave you with enough freon and tools to do it yourself sometime during the week.

That'll work for me. I'll gladly show up and help others as I can. I suppose I could just do a few of the other things I was going to do to my own car wherever we meet. No biggie. I've got a list about three miles long of stuff I can do, so it's not like I can't keep myself busy.

I am happy since I have 11-13 cars there and can park twice as much there probably. I even bought a forklift 3 days ago so I can stack them cars Just kidding about stacking cars but I did buy a 16' bobtail for the container and just spent 5 hours removing the box from the cab/chassis so I have an extra space for storage in the yard. Call me Jeff if you guys are serious about hanging out.

I'm game too. A/C doesn't work in my car and it's black on black. I'm roasting!

Joe,Jeff,Eyal
You guys interested in the 928 Ortega run on Sat? I'll be there and with the A/C party on Sunday it looks like I'll be camping out. How about a forced induction rally to school the NA guys?
I really don't know what has failed with my system but I'll be in the neighborhood. Joe-you are still the love of my life..J/K! The solenoid was a life saver!!!
Lego,
I look forward to meeting you! With your new spread you are soon to become very popular around these parts. Any plans of doing a Porsche Group Hospice?(sp?)
Eyal,
Need a tow???

I'm in, project in plan check, I have actual hours of spare time this weekend. Frank, your new place sounds cool. If you need some help moving stuff from your condo to your new detached garage, maybe we can meetup early as a group and get some stuff done? Just a suggestion.

PM me with the details, and Joe also the cost of the R-12.

Kevin, I don't think I'll need a tow, it moves, and pretty nicely at that, but the idle stabaizer went bad.

Also Eyal, Jeff and Joe... I have one of you guy's 1/2" drive ratchet from last time. I must have accidently took it with me while helping Eyal put the belts on his car last time. If it is a go this weekend, I'll bring it by.
