Default oil leak - rear main or oilpan gasket?

i've had a fairly good size leak from the rear of the engine since i rebuilt it. it's got 1600 miles on the rebuild and i finally decided to repair it. it leaks down onto the underside of the bellhousing, starter, and the heat shields. looks like there is oil on the backside of the flywheel, but i can't tell where it's coming from. the oilpan gasket is a bit bowed out and squished in areas, like i torqued it down too much.

any way to tell at this point if it's the oilpan gasket vs the rear main seal?

can you take a pic of where the presence of oil is at? if it's coming from the bell housing that's really not good. Not to mention if the car's leaking oil and in motion, all of it will be blown back and forth all over the underpart of the rear engine making it even harder to diagnose. Clean it up down there, start it and let it run then shut off and see where it might be leaking.
