Now it just needs a set of perfectly restored 16" Fuchs.

What a gorgeous car and a bargain at that price.

Exactly my thought.

Take pictures of EVERYTHING so we can get proper wire, vacuum and hose routing.

Gorgeous!

If the timing and balance belts have not been replaced they need to be. These will rot over five years. Just takes a few hot accelerations and it's valve job time.
Every party has a pooper, and I think we just found ours...

Just playin. Yes, rubber deteriorates yadda yadda...still an awesome find! Replace a few belts and seals, and you're good to go! Damn that thing is cherry!

That picture is on my desktop now. Simply amazing color and shine.
The odo gear must have been replaced at some point. Notice the screws on the speedometer compare the position to the screws on the rpm gauge.
I always look for that on low mileage 944's and did the same on mine.
But the condition that car is in, im sure the miles cant be to far of.
Man thats a clean car, definitely concourse quality!

Damn, i wish my paint was that good when i bought my '87. The interior in mine is not far off from this with the exception of a little wear on the shift ****. That paint however is way better than mine...and that front valance, thats what they are SUPPOSED to look like!

A friend of my father owns an '86 944, guards red also. I would say its equal to this car. 60k miles and the original owner. The car sat in this guys garage for 6 years. He brought it out and had a ton of issues with leaks...etc. Got everything up to spec and has been daily driving it for the last 2-3 years. The condition of the paint is incredible considering its been sitting outside since. Not a ding on the car, and a perfect interior. The funny thing is, its owned by a guy who is not really into Porsche's much! I was trying to convince him to sell it to me, but he wanted a little too much ($6K).

Concours material! (Except for those spark plug wires...)

Can you elaborate? I thought the screw positions were random anyway. One does appear to have been "worn," though.

After reexamining the photos, I don't think there's anything unusual with the odo--assuming that the screw positions are random. Here's an extreme closeup of the odometer. The light was just glinting off the right screw.

Bear in mind that these were taken right after he bought the car... My friend had to work, so his Dad brought it home (that's a car cover and bra in the rear storage area). It hasn't even been detailed yet. I will take lots more photos once they've gone over everything.

That car looks absolutely amazing. I think it was a good price too. You CANNOT duplicate original unmolested factory as-new condition on parts. The only way to do so is to buy a brand new part.

Reminds of my buddy's 944 he had that he took to car shows. Hows a 1984 944 with 1,900 original miles sound??
