Default I have an opportunity to buy a dead 944s... Would you do it?

I have a chance at a 944s that needs the head put back on. It threw the belt and lunched the valves. However, the headwork is done, all the parts are there, the car just needs to be assembled (or parted out). Its in good condition and definitely worth saving. I have factory manuals, tools, space, time. Assembled I guess its worth at $3800-$4500. $1300 would you go for it?

if the head has had the expensive work done already, yes I would.
If you decide not to go for it, I would like the contact info so I can get it please. I would like to actually save one. (My parts car had a cracked block and munched valves)

For $1,300 I would if I had the space to either repair or part it. If you do - do it!

Only if time and space aren't an issue for you. If I only had more space, I'd already have a couple of project cars to save.

Even if time and spare are an issue, I would do it. Put the head on, put new timing and balance shaft belts on it, and turn it over to somebody else.
Easy way to make a few bucks. At that price, how could you not do it?

Yeah, I know you're right all of you for that matter. I s'pose I was just looking for some moral support on this one. My mind was pretty made up when I made the post.

What special tools will I need other than the stuff for doing the belts?

You're nuts if you don't!!!! Wrecked ones that are only good for parting out are selling for more than that.
Trusted me, I have parted 2, and starting a 3rd

Do it. the parts for you alone are worth it should you choose not to fix it, or if it's a basket case and you HAVE to part it..

Keep in mind you will need dial indicators to put the cams pack in.(Head can not be installed with the cams in) That will be the hard part. Also was chain tensioner replaced? If not do that and a new cam chain while you are in there.

Yeah I did some recon in my manuals and I know I need the dial indicators. I will also need belt tools.

The tensioner, is one of the questions I have already put on my list to ask before I get it home.

Do IT!!! the car is worth it and becides that the work could be fun. ALso its much easier i think to buy a car cheap without a working engine and fix it then a bent body and fix it back to running order.
