Default Anyone cracked one of their Cibie headlights?

I've cracked 3!! I somehow managed to crack my first set of Cibies last year, that came with Iceshark's kit. But I quit driving the car a year ago so I wasn't in a rush to replace them. Got the replacements in the car last month; not more than 5 weeks ago.

Picked up the car tonight from my wrench. While waiting for the car to warm up, my wife realized that I cracked another one. WTH!?!?! I've barely driven it since we replaced the lenses.

I'm wondering if I can use some of that thick plastic film (40 mil or higher) to protect the lenses from rocks, etc.??

Anyone tried this? I'm thinking of trying on my cracked lens. If it melts, who cares...I'll toss the lens. I just can't afford to keep up with these $50 lenses. I just wish I knew what I'm hitting that is cracking them.

Oi vey....

This is why I use $20 E codes from JC Whitney. For what it's worth, the driving lights on 928's crack if you run overwattage bulbs.

It should be perfectly safe to put some clear vinyl on it. Around here, there is some protective film you can get, they have a display, where they put the film on a rectangular headlight, and shot it with a sniper rifle, and it didn't make it through the vinyl. I plan to put that stuff on my headlights and fog lights on my 951. I have one cracked lens, but no moisture inside the lens, so I plan to seal it with the vinyl now before water gets in.

The companies that make the film to protect paint at the leading edges also have headlight kits. The film is streached to conform to the various curves. The film is urethane and comes on a 100 ft roll. The various contours are cut on a plotter that is connected to a PC. Check with quality car tinters to see if they can get pieces cut for you. BTW its best to have someone experienced fit it for you.

I can supply the stone guard for lights, let me check on material cost. I have the equipment to cut it perfectly.

Anyone have a chance to check into the film for the headlights? If not, I'm going to order a DIY kit from Peformance Products.

Thanks in advance...
