You are correct. It hurts
A few years ago we had a self made petrol shortage due to truckers upset with costs etc and prevented petrol getting out to the pumps. Off course people went mad, every man for himself and filled up any vessel they could find. The result being the pumps ran dry in 24hrs.
Of course it change absolutely nothing.

Come on up to Vancouver. In my area all this week its been $3USD a gallon for REGULAR . That puts it at $3.50USD a gal give or take for 94 octane Premium , which is what my car gets. Its chipped and the chips require 93, I have 91 or 94. 91 is only marginally cheaper usually.

And then theres the Europeans....

Yep, gas prices are MUCH higher in Canada.
Right now it's about $0.85/L for regular, and $0.95/L for premium, which I believe translates into numbers very close to what theedge is saying the prices are in Vancouver.
I always bring jerry cans when I make a trip to the US, and stash them wherever I can. Cheap gas is cheap gas.

Actually, speaking of that, a while ago, gas was 0.38/L (around 1996), and my dad filled up a 50L jerry can, and absolutely refused to ever use it ,since it was his cheap gas... IIRC, he still has it, full.

For us here in Surrey were between .95 to .98 a liter for 87 octane, and 94 is about $1.10 I think. My car is off the road, so I havent had to gas it up thankfully. Vancouver itself is usally a bit higher.

I remember back when I was younger, we went on a camping trip to Vancouver Island. There was a gas war going on. IIRC it was 18 or 25 cents a liter! Those were the days.

Red1, well maybe that make things a little better, except for the poor guys that died. But it certainly doesn't help having a refinery blow up rather than just doing maintenance.
nymex HU spot prices. the news hit just before the close and prices did jump up.

you're probably quoting a futures price. i quoted a spot price. the CLZ05 Dec05 light sweet contract closed at 57.21.

Yes, you're exactly right. That clears up the confusion.
